Privacy

Solar Drift is a static tool with no accounts and no backend. Here's exactly what happens to your data — in plain language.

Your location stays in your browser

When you tap “📍 Use my location”, your coordinates are read by your browser and used on your device to compute the solar-time number. They are never stored and never sent anywhere. Refresh the page and they're gone.

No cookies, no banner

The site sets no cookies and shows no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to — no tracking cookies, no ad networks, no cross-site identifiers.

Anonymous analytics

To understand roughly how the tool is used, it records a few anonymous, cookieless events — a page view, a city selection, whether geolocation was used. These carry no personal data and no precise location, and they aren't tied to an identity.

Error monitoring without your coordinates

If something breaks, an error report helps get it fixed. These reports are error-only and are scrubbed so that any GPS coordinates are removed before they're ever sent.

City data

City locations come from GeoNames, used under the CC BY 4.0 licence.
